Words

The world and our lives, our minds, all around us, are so filled with words. Look at anything going on around us today and you see how the whole world is caught up in the War of the words. Everyone has something to say! Is it all profitable? Is it all edifying to our souls, to even our physical wellbeing or our mental wellbeing?

While in a discussion with a loved one this morning, one of my favorite passages was brought to mind and while recited it, I began to ponder, and it struck me in a whole new way. I considered it and that favorite verse became even more precious to my heart, because I felt the LORD showing me Himself in it, and it became even more simpler to understand.

[Psa 19:14 KJV] Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

Maybe you're familiar with this verse. Have you ever wondered why in the midst of that thought, the Psalmist prayed to the LORD as his "Strength" and "Redeemer?" He's praying about what he says, what he speaks and what he thinks. The Bible also says, [Luk 6:45 KJV] A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. Whatever you're ruminating about in your heart, your mouth speaks, or will eventually speak, verbalize it. Have you ever said something rashly and regretted it seconds later? There's so much in the Word of GOD that touches upon the life of the mouth, our lips, our speech, what is uttered by the tongue. The apostle James describes the tongue as a fire, a world of iniquity. Yet the LORD desires for our mouths to be filled with songs of praise to Him. He longs for our tongues to utter confessions of faith to Him and to Jesus. He commands us to bless and not curse with our mouths!

I believe the Psalmist realized that He needed the LORD to help him with the words of his mouth and the thinkings, the meditation of his heart. He understood the connection between the two and the importance of it coming under the authority and direction of the Holy Spirit of GOD. I believe the LORD showed him that it can be done! The LORD is our STRENGTH! He can give us the spiritual, supernatural strength to have a mouth, a tongue, filled with words of blessing, with words of Life. By His strength we can have a mouth filled with words of Wisdom and Praise and Glory. By His Strength we can have a mouth fully submitted to Him and His purposes.

I believe the Psalmist understood that he needed to pray and cry out to the LORD as his REDEEMER where it concerned his mouth and what his heart and mind was thinking. Our Redeemer. The One Who redeems us from our sins. The LORD our God Who pays the debt for our sins and iniquities and transgressions Himself. The LORD Jesus Who gave His Blood, the Blood of the Son of GOD to pay the penalty of sin for our sakes. Our Kinsman-Redeemer, Who purchased our way back to GOD that we could be consecrated sons, holy children, saints of the Living God.

O LORD our God, blessed is Your Holy Name and Precious is Your Word to us this day. Be exalted and magnified LORD Jesus and we consider Your Word of Truth, as we confess to You that our mouths and our tongues, what we say, how we say it... what we consider in our hearts, what we meditate on in the core of our minds needs to be submitted to You, needs to be humbled before Your Holiness. Bless us this day, O Righteous Father that the words of our mouths and the thoughts of hearts and minds would be pleasing to Your, would be acceptable to You, aligned with Your Spirit and Your Truth. That we would speak as You speak and think as You think. Forgive us, Dear Jesus when we have allowed our mouths and our tongues and our minds and thought life to be filled with darkness and bitterness and anger and rancor... when we have allowed our mouths and our words to containers of wickedness and cursing instead of holiness and blessings. Forgive us for these things in our lives, O LORD and hear our cry as we lift it before You and ask that You be our Strength and our Redeemer! Be the Strength of our words! Be the Redeemer of our thoughts! We thank You Father God for opening the way to being transformed by the renewing of our minds in Christ Jesus. Thank You for making way for us to be as holy ones before You speaking and thinking the wondrous things of Your Word... that we be used as instruments of righteousness to bring others to You, to draw other mouths and hearts to Your Almighty Throne Named GRACE. We praise You O LORD and give You thanks forever. Amen and Hallelujah!
