Songs of Deliverance

A Dear friend prayed for me today while I was busy at work and it was at once a relief and a joy to receive a simple prayer of faith and reminder of God's love for me. It reminded me of a favorite verse of Holy Scripture: Psalm 32:7 Thou [art] my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.

That verse came to mind and I "Selah'd" on it, meaning I paused to think and consider what God was speaking to me in that moment of time during my workday. The truth of God's Word is so beautifully penetrating into the soul that it renews one's spirit... it's like being "born again" in the blink of an eye!

Have you ever considered how the LORD Himself, the Father and the Son AND His Holy Spirit sings songs over you?

The verse begins with our own declaration of Who GOD is to us, Who He is to each one of us personally. He IS MY Hiding Place. The Hebrew word for "hiding place" is defined as a covering, a shelter, a secret place, a protection...being hidden, being private. It references a phrase meaning "the covert of the mountain." How amazing! Can you envision the Mountain of the LORD's House? The secret place of His protection in the mountain that is the LORD's very House. I love that! It also is defined as "a veil, a covering." Now that's really intriguing, because the people of God, the Church, the Ekklesia, the Body of Christ, the Body of Believers who have received the LORD as Savior are described as The Bride of Christ, and a Bride wears a Veil, a covering upon her head, and only her husband can lift that veil once the marriage vows have been exchanged. The LORD God covers us as with a veil of love and devotion, of covenant relationship. Not only that, but "hiding place" is also referenced by the phrase "in the covering of thunder" as from within the cloud. Think about that. "Thunder" in the Scripture is often used to describe the Voice of the LORD. And when God thunders, you're either going to cower in great fear, or you're going to be in complete Awe and Wonder. It's important to understand that voice of thunder when we consider what the "songs of deliverance" are all about. God hides you, conceals you, hides you carefully... He is our Guard and our Defense!

The next declaration in this verse is just as amazing. It is the acknowledgement that God will "preserve" us. It means He watches over, guards, keeps, guards from danger, guards with fidelity. Wow. He keeps us in His secret place... Remember Psalm 91? He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High...  He not only guards us, but He puts a "blockade" around us, because He is our Keeper. He keeps us. Then the verse, the prophetic voice of the Psalmist declares God will compass us about with songs of deliverance. What does it mean that He will "compass" us? According to the Hebrew word "sabab" it means to turn, surround, encircle, march around, turn about... and get this: it also means "to change and transform." That's another important thought to consider where it comes to these "songs."

The word "song" in this verse is the word "rone" and it is defined as a ringing cry, to shout, a cry of joy; shouts of deliverance, joy. The root of the word is "ranan" and it is further defined as to sing, rejoice, sing aloud, to overcome, to be overcome, a ringing cry; triumph. It is described with the thought "to emit a tremulous and stridulous sound... the sound of a torrent.

Now, we can sing to the LORD. Believers all across the world sing songs to the LORD, songs of praise and thanksgiving, loving, worshipful songs and hymns of great adoration and gratitude. But when the LORD sings to us? THAT is a song we want to hear, isn't it?

God Himself singing songs of deliverance to me?!! YES! It's the promise of His Word that is Christ, and it is the promise and action of His Precious Holy Spirit to each of us that has entrusted our souls to Him for Salvation.

What is the deliverance? It is an escape, a liberation. It means to bring into security. It also means to be "smooth, sleek; to slip away." Think about that. God, with His song over you and for you, will just slide you away from whatever danger or perilous thing that may be attacking or coming against you, as if you were covered in and glistening with His OIL. To me, it's an imagery of the work of the Holy Spirit.

When the LORD sings, shouts and rejoices over and for us, He is not only covering us to hide us from harm, hiding us in the secret place of the mountain of His Presence, but He is delivering us with triumph. His voice is encircling us and with the Joy of His eternal love, He is not only changing and transforming in that action, but He is also changing and transforming whatever the situation was... whatever was going on that was trying to endanger you or hurt you, or whatever was trying to entrap you. Think about it. This is so vital to understand in these end times. Who could stand against the Voice of the LORD that is crying out and singing a song for His people, His servants that is as the thunder in His cloud?!! Who can come against the Song of the LORD that is encircling you like a blockade against the devil and all his minions who are trying to destroy you? Who can stop the Singing Voice of the Triumphant Christ Who sings for you as the Overcomer, the One Who has Overcome death, hell and the grave? The One Who will just slide you so smoothly into the place of escape that He has determined for you?

Look at what the Holy Scripture says in another place: Zephaniah 3:17 The LORD thy God in the midst of thee [is] mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.

Ahh LORD our GOD, Heavenly Almighty Father, how we thank You this day for the promise of Your Word that declares the power of Your love and Your voice. Your Mercy is so precious and Your love is so outstanding that indeed we stand and even just bow in awe and honor before You. Thank You for singing over us. Thank You for reminding us through the prophetic promises of Your Word of how You are hiding us and defending us, making that way of escape for us by Christ the LORD. Thank You for the Voice of Triumph that You declare for the lives of Your people while yet on this Earth and in this natural realm. Help us Holy Spirit to always remember that there is a torrent of sound going forth on our behalf from our Father whenever we are faced with troubles or dangers or attacks against our minds or bodies. Help us to always remember that when we cry out to our Father, HE ANSWERS, He emits the voice of His Thunder for us and carefully hides us under that precious and holy veil. Help us, O LORD our God to HEAR Your Magnificent and Almighty SONGS OF DELIVERANCE that are sounding for each of us each day, each hour all across the Earth and the eternities, all throughout the Mountain of the Your Holy House! In the Matchless Name of Yeshua, the LORD our Christ. Amen and Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
