The Covering
The Covering
The sin committed
The shame, the guilt, the fear
Hiding away from the Presence of their Eternal Father
A wrath realized
Curses uttered, declared...put into action
The banishment looming
The awakening to Who they came from
One Who sees
One Who knows
One Who loves beyond imagining
One Who covers with the coat of Himself
Skins appear
Taken from a tender, humble innocent one
But before the skin was taken, the blood had to be shed
Skin and blood now the covering
For a man and woman, the first of their kind
Though banished from the origin garden
Placed out in a world now cast down but never forgotten
Covered by the Creator
The One Who governs their destiny
The One Who covers their sin
The One Who redeems their souls with the life of a Lamb
The Lamb slain before the foundation
An innocent for the guilty
The covering of the Innocent Blood upon the souls of humanity
Then a people, a nation
Called from out of strange places and realms
A people called Peculiar
Raised up to enact Moedim, the appointed seasons
Set apart for and by the One Who sets and calls
A man, a priest assigned
To go into the Presence alone to atone
No one can touch him as he enacts the desire of the King
Not just for one, but for many
For a world gone astray
A flowing garment of white carrying innocent blood
Another animal slain
Imagining the one from so long ago whose blood and skin was made to cover
And the priest goes in
And the priest brings the blood
And the priest in white sprinkles that blood
Covering the seat called Mercy
Where the Presence dwells forever
An act, a sign, a ritual of faith
For it is the day which He has made
Where the heavens and the Earth are one before Him
Innocence covering the guilty
Innocence covering the soul
Innocence converting the shame
That Glory may once again be the covering
The Light of the Presence once again covering the jewels of all Creation
The Presence re-superimposed upon the ones of like-image
A day set apart like none other
To cry out in prayers, in praise, and in worship bathed in white light
And we come to a day when after a Cross was stained
A weeping woman sees a Gardener
Saddened by her great loss
Looking for her Lord
Who then opens the eyes of blindness
But can touch Him not
For the Priest was set for the appointed time and season
To Ascend to the Father
The KING of All
But first the Blood He takes Himself to the seat of Mercy, His own Altar
Called by His Name, appointed forever
For this Lamb has come
And the appointed day stands at hand for all time
The covering for shame, guilt and sin available to all
Just open the gate of your heart that was once closed off
and separated from the Presence of your Father
And be clothed anew in the garment made just for you
The only covering that is True
The Blood of the Lamb upon you
Now new and restored
What was, and is, and what will be
The Purchased, the Covered, the Forgiven
The Redeemed

Genesis 3... Gen 3:21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
Leviticus 16... Lev 16:14-16 And he shall take of the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle [it] with his finger upon the mercy seat eastward; and before the mercy seat shall he sprinkle of the blood with his finger seven times. 15 Then shall he kill the goat of the sin offering, that [is] for the people, and bring his blood within the vail, and do with that blood as he did with the blood of the bullock, and sprinkle it upon the mercy seat, and before the mercy seat: 16 And he shall make an atonement for the holy [place], because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions in all their sins: and so shall he do for the tabernacle of the congregation, that remaineth among them in the midst of their uncleanness.
John 20... John 20:11-17 But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, [and looked] into the sepulchre, 12 And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. 13 And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him. 14 And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus. 15 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away. 16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master. 17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and [to] my God, and your God.
Hebrews 9... Heb 9:11-15 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; 12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption [for us]. 13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: 14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? 15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions [that were] under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
Thank you and Amen.
